Christmas at Mamaw and B's

Christmas 2011

Christmas was so much fun this year. The girls were very excited, which made it even better. The number one thing on Cate's list was a slap bracelet and that was her favorite thing. Ava wanted a unicorn that could sleep with her. Santa found a pony and that was her favorite. They are loving their beanbag chairs too. Cate was wide awake when we went upstairs to get them. Even though it was after 8 o'clock, Ava was still asleep and was NOT happy when Cate woke her up.

Just in case someone came downstairs early.

Not happy about being woken up.
Loving the slap bracelets.

Warming up.
Finally happy.

Ava also loves her new slippers from Grandpa and Nana.

Grandmother's House

Joe and the girls to visit Grandmother Birdie in Corinth after Christmas. She turned 90 this year.

Joe's Papaw was a Methodist minister for many years and also fought in WWII. He is buried in Corinth.

The Kite

Santa brought the girls a fun kite for Christmas. One windy (and very cold) afternoon, we borrowed the Kizer's yard and tried it out.

Cate and Ava to the Rescue

Darby was not extremely happy about needing to be rescued, but was a good sport anyway.

Artwork by Ava

Ava refuses to stay outside and play, refuses to cut with scissors, and says her legs hurt when we ask her to take her shoes upstairs to her room, but she did teach herself how to write the alphabet and she loves to color and draw. She will spend an hour at the kitchen table and cover our refrigerator up with artwork. Cate needed a poster for school and Ava begged for one too. I thought she'd scribble on it a little and be done. She worked on this for two days and has a story for every "person" on it.

Easy Bake Oven

Cate got an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas. We were surprised the cookies and cupcakes were actually edible. They have definitely improved since I had one.
